Diagnosis of liver diseases

Diagnostics

Various tests are used to diagnose liver disorders, including the CT scan, the ultrasound and the MRI scan. These imaging techniques are used to accurately determine the type of abnormality and, in the case of a tumor, the type and stage of the tumor. The type refers to the type of tumor, or from which cells the tumor originates. The stage refers to how far the tumor has developed. It may be necessary to perform a liver puncture to obtain liver tissue, which may be necessary for further diagnosis. Laboratory tests are also often performed.
